SUMMER EXPLORERS ORIENTATION!!!
JUNE 16TH, 2010 - 7:00-8:00 PM - POCAHONTAS ELEMENTARY
Summer Explorers is an alternative to our outdoor 1/2 day camps. Children choose from a variety of activities such as arts and crafts, drama and theater, environmental stufies and cooperative games. There are two prescheduled and prepaid field trips weekly, as well as guest speakers. Opportunities for swimming lessons and/or free swim are available on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Friday, weather permitting.

JCIT (Junior Counselor in Training) PROGRAM
Teens aspiring to be future Summer Explorers staff work with counselors, attend field trips, assist with swimming activities, meet with the center supervisor and receive supportive supervision and evaluation. Participation does not guarantee a staff position, but is looked upon favorably. Those interested must complete a camp and CIT application.
HALF DAY SPORTS CAMP
Campers learn a variety of sports and participate in a non-competitive and positive environment. Sports may include whiffleball, soccer, basketball, ultimate frisbee and flag football. Campers will also have an opportunity to meet and play soccer with Richmond Kickers soccer players! Children must bring a water bottle, lunch, and closed-toe shoes.

Each day features an arts and crafts project, organized games corresponding to the week's theme, a nature activity or walk, a wellness activity, free swim and a 30-minute lunch.

For a more rustic camp experience, check out YMCA Camp Thunderbird Outdoor Center. For more than 40 years, YMCA Camp Thunderbird has provided fun and enriching activities in an outdoor environment. Located in Central Chesterfield on the edge of Swift Creek and Pocahontas State Park, YMCA Camp Thunderbird boasts 100 acres of wooded beauty. Our six-acre centerpiece, Lake George, provides a timeless backdrop for the YMCA Camp Thunderbird experience.
